It has been said that retrospection is the sport of the aged and infirm. This website tells a tale of pedalling exploits undertaken when already old and unfit.
With the completion of the Dundee to Inverness tour, a circuit of the British coastline is complete. The journey took just shy of 8 years from when we started in Land's End and, although it took 6 years to get to John O'Groats, we speeded up after the pandemic was over, the east coast being much flatter, and straighter. The circuit involved 105 days pedalling, over 5,000 miles in distance, and nearly 260,000 ft of elevation (about 9 Everests). We did it over 16 separate trips, taking our time to really enjoy the different parts of the country and its wonderful coastline.
In June 2026, we also completed our circuit of Ireland, another 2,000 miles or so, done over 5 trips of about 400 miles each. And another 105,000 feet of climbing.
Whatever next?
