Milltown Malbay - Cogitation

The Road to Milltown Malbay

Strong words are said coming back from Loop Head
About MPs trashing the joint
But the atmosphere here is perfectly clear
And I can see both sides of the point

Mark’s deviation causes much irritation
The track is a right little bleeder
He says there’s a view but there’s nothing new
In broken promises from a leader

The dogs around here are snappy and fierce
One chained to a post makes me cower
But they’re great pretenders, like our two contenders
Throwing mud from positions of power

The next few miles should bring some smiles
“The Cliffs of Moher are second best.” Oh
But that’s a fib, a very damp squib
Like the Conservative manifesto

From the rain we break free, at a caff in Kilkee,
Where the hand-dryer is better than tow’ls
Now all the migration is ruining this nation
They have ciabatta but no tatie farls

We fly to Doonbeg to start the last leg
Trump’s resort is quite a distraction
We go out of our way, to share our dismay
At political putrefaction

The resort is called Doughmore, which is Irish for Mordor
But it simply smells of more dough
It doesn’t make sense, gold taps in the gents
And we can hardly wait to go

Knowing he’s guilty, we bypass Quilty
On dry, sunny, country roads
We hope this continues and pray to hear news
Of the day populism implodes.
