Newton Ferrer really is a new town
So says the Domesday Book
The harbour’s a long way down
But it’s certainly worth a look

Here Henry Every’s youth was spent
A pirate of some renown
He soon disappeared in retirement
His treasure was never found

Warren ferry won’t play ball
So it’s round the creek today
It’s not the Brixton I recall
No riots, no roots, no reggae

The Barbican ferry’s a godsend
Dodging traffic’s all part of my game
The vessel is called Mountbatten
At least Windsor’s not part of the name…
